Mr. Sukumar N. Oommen
Professional Background
Sukumar N. Oommen, Managing Partner at Omega Alliance, graduated with a LLB from Madras University, holds a Masters of Arts in Political Science from Madras Christian College, University of Madras, and is also a retired member of Indian Administrative Service, 1973 batch.
Mr. Oommen specializes in constitutional law, corporate laws and governance, taxation laws, arbitration and dispute resolution, labour laws, and intellectual property rights protection laws. He has been instrumental in several landmark deals.
Prior to joining Omega Alliance, Mr. Oommen held various positions with the Government of India, State Governments of Manipur, Tripura and Kerala. He has served as Member of Tax Tribunal and also as Chairman and Managing Director of a public-sector fertilizer company under the Government of India.
Mr. Oommen is a member of the Bar Council of Kerala.
Outside of his legal practice, Mr. Oommen is actively involved in various philanthropic activities.

Mr. Oommen specializes in constitutional law, corporate laws and governance, taxation laws, arbitration and dispute resolution, labour laws, and intellectual property rights protection laws. He advises clients, both individuals and establishments, and provides counsel on diverse and varied legal matters and issues. He offers extensive experience in handling of complex tax issues, labour law, service rules.
Experience and Achievements
Mr. Oommen, serves as an advisor to a number of business houses, industries, hospitals and educational institutions. He leads the Litigation team at the Firm.
Prior to enrolling as an advocate, Mr. Oommen, a member of the Indian Administrative Service 1973 batch, served the Government of India and various State governments for thirty-four (34 years). He has served the State Governments of Manipur and Tripura as Collector, Director of Industries, Commissioner (Taxes), Member VAT (Tribunal), and Principal Secretary to the Governments in the Departments of Revenue, Agriculture, Health, Planning and Transport. He has also served the Government of Kerala in various capacities as Principal Secretary – Health and Energy Sector and as the Chairman of Kerala State Electricity Board. Besides these, Mr. Oommen has also served the Government of India as Deputy Chairman, Port Trust, Controller, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre and Chairman and Managing Director, Madras Fertilizers Limited, a Public Sector Unit under the Government of India.
Mr. Oommen is a gold medallist in Masters’ Degree in Political Science.
Personal Anecdotes
Mr. Oommen across his tenure with the Indian Administrative Services has also held various sensitive positions whilst being in the North-East of India. The work that he has rendered in the North-East of India is still fondly remembered even by those who are currently at the helm of affairs.

Mr. Sherry Samuel Oommen

Professional Background
Sherry Samuel Oommen, Senior Partner, Omega Alliance, graduated with a law degree from University of Bangalore. He holds a Bachelor degree in Commerce from St. Joseph’s College of Commerce, University of Bangalore; Masters degree in Commerce from Aligarh Muslim University, Post Graduate Diploma in Business and Corporate Laws from Symbiosis Centre for Distance Learning, Pune. He has also completed his Master of Arts specializing in International Taxation from NALSAR, Hyderabad.
Sherry is also a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Member of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India, Certified Indirect Tax Professional by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Sherry has also qualified the Professional examination of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India. He frequently speaks at legal and tax conferences and has published articles in journals on various legal topics.
Before joining Omega Alliance, Sherry worked with the Big 5 Accounting Firms starting his career with Arthur Andersen and then with the member firms of Ernst & Young and KPMG. His notable assignments include working on key tax dispute matters, corporate restructuring for a Fortune 500 company and advising on various repatriation and exit strategies.
Mr. Oommen is a member of the Bar Council of Kerala.
Outside of his legal practice, Sherry is actively involved with various institutions such as YMCA, Rotary amongst others.

Sherry specializes in advising clients with respect to direct and indirect taxes, international tax, corporate and mercantile law, complex cross-border transactions and restructuring, expatriate taxation, transfer pricing and other transactional related taxes. He offers extensive experience in handling complex tax issues.
Sherry has successfully led the team in defending clients in high-stakes tax audits and complexities. He has also been part of various panel discussions on the taxation laws.
Experience and Achievements
Sherry leads the Tax, Corporate Law and Mercantile Law teams of the Firm. He serves as tax, corporate and mercantile law specialist to various financial institutions, commercial institutions and charitable organizations.
Sherry, was until April 2013 heading the tax and regulatory services practice of a leading Big 4 Accounting Firm in Kerala. He worked for over a decade with the Big 5 Accounting Firms. He began his professional journey with Arthur Andersen.
Sherry has had varied exposure in consulting and compliance areas under corporate tax, foreign investment, exchange control, corporate and other laws for a mix of Indian and multinational clients. He has hands-on experience in a multitude of fiscal and regulatory issues, cross border transactions, transfer pricing, expatriate taxation and corporate restructuring. His experience that extends to various industries including the Energy, Infrastructure, Chemicals and Utilities, Media, Financial Services, Health care, Consumer and Industrial Markets, Information Technology and Manufacturing/ Trading industries, Transportation and Logistics, etc.
Sherry holds a number of academic accolades. He holds:
